Embodied Thinking Lab

Can we get in connection with a collective subconsciousness through the practice of our intuition, and especially through somatic awareness? If so, how is that unfolding? Maybe, on your path, you have already made some observations and experiences around these questions... The embodied thinking lab will offer a time and space to reflect these experiences together in movement, and to find ways to share, verbally and non-verbally. Can we collectively think-sense beyond that which is (and/ or can be) consciously known to us?

Stephanie Hanna is a socially engaged visual artist with a background in scenography. She lives and works in Berlin. Her artistic practice is entangled with her daily life experiences, and fueled by her desire to learn more about other perspectives and realities of life. In the MA program "Art in Context", she specialized in artistic mediation as tool for bridging polarities, and facilitated practical artistic workshops on Graffiti and Street Art for older people (2005 - `12). In 2009, she started an ongoing series of video works, juxtaposing intellectually demanding theoretical text excerpts with meditative sensual video observations of daily life experiences. Since then, this has turned into a broader research practice on embodied thinking. Since her youth, she has been physically active and performing, and for many years trained Capoeira. In 2008, she had to pause the martial arts due to a back injury and that is when she got more involved with somatic body work. In preparation of her upcoming show "re:forming (how we collectively survive capitalism)", she started to train as Somatic Movement Therapist.
