You Gotta Feel It To Heal It

A journey into a body- centred approach to understanding and healing the impact of racism. How the language of healing needs to evolve to include and respect our body’s knowing. This will underline the importance of a somatic pathway in a time shaped by inhumane processes and structures that keep us at speed and thus maintain an unsustainable level of bodily distress. The vicious cycle of bodies caste in a structural hierarchy based on pigmentation and how this links to the social vulnerabilities and inequities in the challenges of covid-19. Why slow is fast. That facing the uncertainties of the future requires a reclaiming of the sovereignty of our body.
Through exercises the group will explore the dance between racism and trauma and how it lives in the body. This is an opportunity to reflect and even practice some of our individual and intergenerational legacies as a source of resilience.
With a deeper more intimate connection to our body comes all the memory and wisdom available to us individually and communally so we can all become better ancestors!
