Born in Israel to Persian parents, Orly Noa trained as a director in London and in Tel Aviv. Orly Noa is a member of EVE – Israeli Independent Theatre Makers Association, Lincoln Center Theater Directors Lab, La MaMa Umbria, The Watermill Performance Center, Asylum Arts and the WWLab – an international directors collective.
In recent years she created the #posthome_theatre directorial trilogy: A PARTICIPATORY PERSIAN TEA CEREMONY performed at changing locations. An adaptation of Luigi Pirandello’s THE MAN WITH THE FLOWER IN HIS MOUTH, premiered at Jaffa Theatre as part of Pirandello150 international Festival. The third part of the trilogy PARRHESIA premiered at Tmuna.

Other selected directing credits: HER ISRAELI STORY – a cross disciplinary performance bringing together contemporary literature & visual art at Ebraica Festival, Rome. Israeli premiere of BULL by Mike Bartlett at MARA Theatre, nominated for Best Show & awarded Best Stage Design at the 2017 Israeli Fringe Awards. A site-specific adaptation inspired by Maurice Meaterlinck’s INTERIOR for the Banqiao 435 ART ZONE in Taipei, Taiwan. ISRA-ISLAND by Nava Semel at Itim Ensemble. Israeli premiere of FLEABAG by Phoebe Waller-Bridge at the Israel Festival. ONIONS – In Pasto Al Mare, a site-specific work for the beach in Calabria, later hosted by the Teatro Biblioteca Quarticciolo, Rome. Israeli premiere of IF THERE IS I HAVEN’T FOUND IT YET by Nick Payne at the Library Theatre. British premiere of HONEYPOT by Julia Pascal at the New Diorama. A DROP IN THE SEA at Tzavta, Tel Aviv.
She received the Habima Award for Entrepreneurship in Theatre at a festival co-produced by Tel Aviv’s Habima and London’s National Theatre, and was nominated to Rolex Mentor and Protégé Arts Initiative. She was a recipient of the America-Israel Cultural Foundation grant, the Lottery Arts Fund & Ministry of Culture grants.
